I poured a shot of whiskey in GS coffee cup and looked over at Jessica She was the only Vampire in the parlor and she looked more than a little nervous. Things may be looking hopeful for her and Hoyt, but her maker, Bill, Sookie, Eric, Pam and Russell were in the middle of if not a human drama, a Vampire one.
"What do you think GS?" I asked. He took a sip of his fortified coffee and shrugged his shoulders.
"Is Eric really sacrificing himself?" asked GS. I understood this was a rhetorical question.
I had no doubt about Eric's nobility or his bravery. Sookie, on the other hand, may not be very bright, nor be able to read Vampire minds, but she surely she knows Bill and Eric well enough to know they would do anything to keep her and themselves from meeting a true death. Surely she could connect the dots. I think sometimes being able to read people's minds made Sookie lazy when came to the "figuring things out department". And Pam was enthralled by Eric's actions..my hope was she snapped out of it soon and would let Bill feed Sookie. There she was lying there stretched over a four top like a Vampire slaw dog, all sucked down.
"Can we start?" asked Jessica. "I mean, are we all here? Can we get started?"
"I looked around. There was Renee Vi, Westexan, and the Kid sitting on one couch. Scarlett and Minnie, Aolani and Body Guard were on the other couch. Sal Barrister Fairy and Luna were having a chat in front of the fireplace. Lina and Linzy were at the computer. Jen and Raki were sitting on the high back chairs and Sweet and Butter were sharing an ottoman. As full as the room was, without our full compliment of Vampires, the room felt empty indeed.
Suddenly the door opened and Alcide Herveaux walked in and soaked up a particle of the dead space. Jen's eyes lit up with sight of the werewolf/ Body Guard shoo hands with him and he bent to give Jen and Sugar a quick kiss.
"Sorry I've been away," he said. "Am I late? Have we begun?" He looked at Jessica. Alcide I suppose understood that though he was considered "one of us now"...a truebie, he was not the one in charge...the Vampires were that, especially one Vampire...Eric Northman.
"Not yet," said Jessica. "We were about to begin." She looked around. "Let's get to Sookie last, okay? So we really talk about it in an orderly fashion?" We all looked at her. God Speed nodded.
"Alright," he said.
"I've got a thought about Holly," said Aolani. "What if she is not a witch of light magik, but a witch of dark?"
"How do you mean?" asked Jen.
"What if she has been sent to make sure Renee's baby is born because she knows it is an evil seed? She broke the most basic tenant of Wicca, the Rede. We believe 'An it harm none, do as thou will,' Just by suggesting an abortion breaks our laws," she explained. "And everything a witch does i s nuanced. She cast her circle widdershins, that is counter clockwise, she drew blood with her Athame, all these things are counter to the craft."
"Could she be a forward scout for the witches who come after Eric?" asked Fairy.
"It could be," said Aolani.
"So what about Jesus? What the hell was that he turned into?" asked Butter.
"Everyone of us have a secret face. If we open ourselves up to the light, our hidden face is the fave of a deva, an elion, an angel," explained Aolani. "If we open ourselves up to darkness, our face is the face of the evil one, the devil."
"So, did the Vampire Blood do that to him, make him evil?" asked Jessica.
"Oh no," explained our witch. "No, you are not good or evil based on whether you are a Vampire or not. When Magikally sensitive people use drugs or alcohol to excess, it can open up the user to either light or dark. Lafayette has led a difficult life. He has learned to wear many masks, his protective coloring. His anger and pain are strong influences on where Vampire blood takes him."
"And Sam, my God, what has happened to him?" asked Raki.
"This whole thing with Tommy, with his parents, having beat Calvin nearly to death, all of these things have hurt so bad. Not to mention the betrayals he has experienced," said Barrister.
"Daphne," said Lina
"And Sookie to a degree. True, he was reticent to get involved with her until Bill showed up on the scene, but he loves her," said Linzy.
"What about Tara?" said Minnie.
"Tara is as a tormented a soul as he. Pain is a lot for two people to have in common," said Alcide. "You didn't see her the whole time she was in the truck with me."
"The trauma of Eggs' death, the torture she experienced at the hands of Franklin, The betrayal she felt with Mary Anne, discovering Jason shot Eggs. She keeps reaching out for heroes and discovers her heroes have feet of clay," said Body Guard.
"So, Jessica, you and Hoyt together again," I said, nudging the young Vampire.
"I love Hoyt, but you know, Hoyt really doesn't get it, that I am a Vampire and I will never be a "Free" Vampire like Bill wanted me to be, living off Tru:Blood alone," she said.
"I don't think any Vampire is a Free Vampire,," said Westexan. "It's in your nature, but, you can at least be...civilized about it."
"I don't know how this will work. I am not even sure this will work, I mean, it doesn't seem like Bill has this whole Vampire/Human love thing worked out any better than I do," she said. "So I guess with that, we can start talking about Bill and Sookie and Eric."
"I really felt sorry for Bill," said Renee. "He knows he can never give Sookie the normal life of a human couple, and neither can Sookie, and despite his best efforts, his very best intentions to protect her, he hasn't really done a great job at either.."
"The road to hell..." said God Speed.
"Is paved with good intentions...It's my daddy's favorite platitude," said Jessica. "And a lot of times, things are pretty much out of his control."
"You do know, he reacted to Pam the way he did because he had no idea about what Eric and Pam are up to," said Scarlett. "He did it because that is what he always does...rushed in to save Sookie."
"True," said Vi. "So I don't hold what he and Sookie did to Pam against her. How are they supposed to know. On the other hand, even though I know Sookie has trust issues with Bill, I think I would have realized that they are playing a game of sorts to save all their lives."
"Maybe she does realize that," said Barrister. "Maybe she knew if she didn't get all hyper active and reactionary about the situation, Russell would have known there was something going on. The only thing I do worry about is that Pam will not shake off her worry for Eric and do something to save Sookie so she would do something to save Eric."
"Would she though?" asked Fairy. "If she distrusts Bill, she sure as hell distrusts Eric."
"She would trust Bill and Eric before she trusted Edgington," said Raki. "And it is obvious that Eric is doing all this to get his revenge and to stop Edgington."
"Edgington reminds me of Charles Manson," I said. Barrister looked at me puzzled..."You know..he said he did Tate and Labianca to start a war and when the war was over he would be the last one standing who could lead them...he called the war helter skelter."
"Well, whatever it is, we only have one epi to go to find out.
